Can a single parent simply appoint a friend to be a guardian for a teen over 16 but under 18 in Ont. Canada?

If so, what is the process? Next, can the friend over 18 years be held accountable for the teen in a court of law in Ontario Canada once he/she assumes guardianship? Please note, this is NOT about legal guardianship. The single parent simply does not want to be involved or share any responsibility.
