Can a single parent simply appoint a friend to be a guardian for a teen over 16 but under 18 in Ont. Canada?

If so, what is the process? Next, can the friend over 18 years be held accountable for the teen in a court of law in Ontario Canada once he/she assumes guardianship? Please note, this is NOT about legal guardianship. The single parent simply does not want to be involved or share any responsibility.

How did growing up with a single parent affect you as an adult?

I grew up with a single mom who struggled financially. She was depressed, defeated, and very negative towards men. Thus, I became fiercely independent and mistrusting of men. I also focused on earning a great salary since I did not want to end up like her. Did anyone else encounter this or other emotions having a missing parent?

How do you define a single parent?

Is a single parent just an unmarried person with children? Is someone a single parent when they are divorced, and if they are, then what is the other parent? Or are they both single parents? What if you have a live in boyfriend/girlfriend, especially if that person is the child’s father? Are you a single parent even if the other parent is very involved in the child’s life? Just curious as to how others define a single parent, or what comes to mind when you hear the term.

Where is the best place for nontraditional/single parent/students to study at work?

I am a single parent I have to work a second job in addidtion to a FT job and attend school FT. What is the best place to work that might allow some time for studying? I currently work in an busy ER three days a week, 12hr nights and study time is very unpredictable and scarce. While this job in an Er is FT does not occupy all my time I would like to find an additional job where I might be allowed to study. I do not care how much it pays. I am not eligible for financial aid work study at the community college b/c of credit hrs earned and I am enrolled at two schools (EIU). What are some good companies, occupations, suggestions please?

Can a single parent go full time to college for a 4 year degree and still receive TANF welfare benefits?

My daughter is a single parent with two children, and she wants to finish her degree and become a school teacher. Is she eligible for the Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) program if she is a full time student in a 4-year college?
