How do I start a single parent support group?

I am a single parent. There are no support groups in my area. I would like to start one. What should I do? Maybe put up signs on the community bulletin board, giving out my number for people to contact me? Any ideas?

How do you prove you’re a single parent when travelling internationally with a minor?

At the international airport, a parent travelling with a minor son/daughter is required to provide proof that the absent parent approves of the international travel in the form of a notarized authorization. If you’re a single parent or if you’re spoused is deceased, what documents do authorities look for instead?

Single-parent teachers: How do you maintain work-life balance?

What are the advantages and disadvantages of the teaching profession for single-parents? I can think of a few myself, but I want to hear from people who have actually done this, especially with young children. Teaching seems to be a pretty demanding profession, so how did/do you make the time to be a good single-parent while pursuing a teaching career?

Single Parent?

I am a slightly disabled female single parent, who split from her partner recently. My son is 5 years old. I say that I am slightly disabled in that I am not disabled enough to get registered as a disabled person !!

Anyway, because of this, I have problems doing general DIY around the house, even simple things like changing a light bulb, changing a plug, screwing/unscrewing screws etc.

Can you recommend how I can over come this? Would it be a good idea to employ a general 'handyman' who could do these things for me. If so, are they expensive to employ?

I live in The Midlands, England

Thank you.
