I have been partial to my brother-in-law’s side of my sisters divorce. He has mentioned me in his declaration and my sister says that I may be subpoenaed to dicredit his convictions. Am I legally bound by California law to appear in Family Court after being served? I was told that I could only be forced to appear in criminal law cases. And if not, what are the consequenses of not showing up? And does anyone have any websites that back up the laws?

My brother is married to a woman in Pennsylvania and he is stationed in Kentucky. He just got the papers in the mail a few days ago stating that the divorce was taking affect. He didn’t have to sign anything or send them back. Can anyone tell me how long it will be until the divorce is final or what he could do to speed it up?

My b/f has been to court many times reagrding his 5 year old son. At first, he was going to court because the mother would not let him see his son, and now he is going back because of unpaid child support (about 0, btw). But there have been many visits in between and he has always showed up alone while she always has a lawyer. In the future, I think it might be a good idea for him to show up with representation. However, we can not afford a lawyer. The child’s mother has yet again denied him his visitation for reasons that I understand she is not able to deny visitation to him for. When he goes to family court again, how can we find him representation? What do we look up in the phone book? We just need to be pointed in the right direction, because we have no idea where to find a free lawyer if its even possible. Please help.

My cousin filled for divorce and is having problems serving her ex with divorce papers. She is doing it herself to save on money (single mom of 3) . He will not accept the papers. Does anyone know of a good way to serve him the papers without using a court appointed person to do it? He cant hide forever and she only has 4 days to gett hem to him. Thanks.

When my ex and i went to family court last month . My Ex was told to file his response and get his proof of income together and file it before our next court date. He hasn’t filed a response or done anything for that matter. So my question is whats going to happen at our next court date?

My wife moved away from me about 7 months ago and I don’t know here address but I do know she lives in a different state. I want to file for divorce but she says shes going to do it too. I would let her but I want to control the divorce in my state cause I cant travel right now dues to work. What happens if we both file? Thanks in advance.

can i do that at family court? can i just walk in and file charges on my own? what do i have to bring with me?
i dont have to go through social services right? they suck. the father signed the birth certificate.

I think my parents are getting a divorce, my dad is taping divorce shows and I am very worried, what should I look for to see strengthen my theorie of my parents divorce. Also are there any ideas tlon how to stop a divorce?

I met a girl who’s going through a divorce and said she had no kids. But when I looked her up on line it says it scheduled in family court.

A friend of mine filed for divorce in January, but the divorce is still pending with a court date of 2011. Is this normal?
